Dedicated to the Memory of Leonard Sylvester Hillier B.E.M

This is a tribute to Leonard Sylvester Hillier, born in Alverstoke, Gosport on January 18, 1931. He was an inspiration to his family. He loved the outdoors, enjoying nothing more than the sunshine, the fresh air and being close to the sea.  A keen writer, his poetry captured his thoughts and humour and was typically signed  'from the Pen of Len'.  Earlier in his life Leonard served in the British Forces and the Korean War, he also spent many years working for the MOD Guard Service.  He received recognition for his hard work and services by being awarded both the Imperial Service Medal and the British Empire Medal.

Leonard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, all of whom are immensely proud of his achievements.  He was married to his wife, Sylvia, whom he loved dearly for more than 56 years.  He  is very much loved and will always be remembered.

Dad spent a lifetime putting others first and donating to causes to support those less fortunate than himself. It is at his specific request that floral tributes are not sent to his funeral, instead he has asked that donations be made to The Rowans Hospice. If you would like to make a donation it will be gratefully received and we would very much like to pass on our thanks and gratitude on his behalf .
